THE SUN HOUSE

Once the home of a Scottish spice merchant, this white-washed colonial house built in the 1860’s has been converted into a small luxury hotel with 7 highly individual bedrooms and an eclectic assortment of artwork, books and furniture.

There are two beautiful tropical gardens; the frangipani  garden, leading to the swimming pool, and the mango garden which has stunning views of Galle harbour. Both gardens are an idyllic and serene place for guests to relax, read, write or sunbathe. Delicious fusion cuisine is on offer and meals can be taken in either the dining room, on one of the verandahs or in the garden under the mango tree.

Dick’s Bar – nominated as one of the best cocktail bars in the world – also offers a simple menu of salads and soups. The bedrooms are filled with colonial antique furniture, dreamy four poster beds, the finest quality bed linen and all have elegant en-suite bathrooms.

The Sun House is situated on a hill behind Galle Town and the famous Galle Fort can be reached by a short tuk-tuk ride.
